True lavender grows in the foothills of Provence, France, which are located at an altitude of more than 600 meters above sea level. When compared to lavandin, which flourishes on the plain and contains a high level of camphor, lavender is smaller in size. The higher the region, in which lavender grows, the higher the essential oil’s ester-level and the lower its camphor level. This makes the oil smell more intensive and flowery-herbal. Simultaneously, the oil’s strong calming and soothing properties increase. Essential lavender oil calms reddened skin, soothes itches , and promotes a good night’s sleep.
