The low-lying areas of Provence, France, are characterized by Lavandin, a mix of lavender and Portuguese or spike lavender. Lavandin seems to be in constant competition with lavender, even though it need not fear comparison: Taller and shrubbier than true lavender, it may produce up to 6 times more harvest than lavender. Lavandin tends to influence the emotions, which is perfect should anxiety, nervousness or an itch cause you distress. Due to the oil’s high proportion of camphor, its herb-like and fresh fragrance is a little tangier than lavender’s.
